Faith in God amongst His people is always something that we greatly appreciate. Indeed God speaks the TRUTH, and so the GOOD PROMISES He has made in the Bible can be trusted to be FULFILLED. We must therefore have FAITH IN HIS GOOD PROMISES.
TEXT: Habakkuk 3: 17 - 19
There are three parts to this passage and they are as follows:
[ Jump to - 13: 18 ]
I. GLOOMY PROSPECTS v. 17 Habakkuk outlined the worst possible consequences: complete failure of crops, figs, grapes, olives, and grain – (on which the nation depended for food) and total loss of SHEEP, and CATTLE. Habakkuk knew that these things were not theoretical
scenarios, they were going to happen in view of the JUDGMENT coming upon
them through the Babylonian invasion
[ Jump to - 24: 10 ]
II.GODLY RESPONSE v. 18 Habakkuk’s faith is a MATURE FAITH. Though there would
be no blossoming, no fruit, no olive, no food, though there
be pestilence or no cattle, Habakkuk would still REJOICE
and PRAISE THE LORD!
[ Jump to - 53: 20 ]
III.GREAT FAITH v. 19 Here Habakkuk makes a confession that GOD IS HIS STRENGTH.
For a time, Habakkuk’s faith was sinking, but God gave him
strength for his faith to soar once again. This is our comfort.
(Heb. 2: 18).
