This passage that we will be studying will be teaching us the FOLLY OF WORSHIPPING IDOLS.
This was one of the major sins of Babylon. The verses that we will be studying will describe to us the IDOLATROUS NATURE of the Babylonians.
If you’ll study the archaeological records, you’ll discover that Babylon was addicted to idolatry. They worshiped many gods, and they thought these gods had given them their victories.
What they failed to realize is that IDOLATRY accomplishes NOTHING and worst of all, it is one of the MOST SERIOUS ABOMINATIONS against God. This passage also reveals to us the sin of our nation that we need to turn from.
