Introduction
Oftentimes we think that life is but a matter of RANDOM CHANCE. The chance that leads to good fortune is often called “good luck” and the chance that leads to misfortune is called “bad luck.” However in God’s economy there is NO SUCH THING as good or bad luck. Everything that happens is either permitted or ordained by God to achieve a CERTAIN PURPOSE.
In the case of the Jews, God was silently working for their betterment in spite of their being outside the will of God for remaining in the Medo-Persian empire when they should be returning back to their homeland after their exile by Babylon.
Satan had planned the extermination of God’s covenant people, but God would not allow that so that God makes the NECESSARY PREPARATIONS to SHIELD His people from destruction.
A brief look at the outline today will make us see that:
1. The SORROW (of the King) and the Proposed SOLUTION (vv. 1 - 4)
2. God’s HIDDEN SOLUTION - Esther and Mordecai (vv. 5 - 7)
3. THE INTERVENTION - the INCLUSION of Esther and her FAVOR from Hegai (vv. 8 - 10)
4. The BUILD UP of SUSPENSE (v. 11)
5. The SELECTION (vv. 12 - 14)
6. The CORONATION and CELEBRATION of the WINNER - Esther (vv. 15 - 18) 7. The SILENT PREPARATION of Mordecai (vv. 19 - 23)
CONCLUSION:
Isn’t it interesting to see God weaving the details of our lives in a tapestry which reveals God’s sovereignty and full control of any and every situation including scenarios in the future. The future should not really be our concern; our concern should be whether we are on the side of God because if we are we can trust His providence to work all things together for our own good.
